Trump targets surveillance program in tweet; suggests possibility of political spying

In the four years since Snowden blew the lid off U.S. surveillance overseas the number of targets the U.S. is monitoring around the globe has steadily increased. (Den President Trump Tweeted Against His Own Bill. Now Congress May Delay the Vote

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is a roughly 40-year-old federal law limiting how US spy agencies can monitor Americans' communications, first passed in the wake of 1970s Congressional investigations into privacy violations by the three-letter spy agencies.

The Senate must still vote on the matter although as The New York Times highlights, fewer lawmakers there seem to favor changes to spying laws.

An attempt to amend the bill to curtail the surveillance program failed 183-233. The amendment would require the Federal Bureau of Investigation to obtain a warrant before it begins searching the NSA's surveillance database for information on American citizens.

TRUMP, known to millions for his roles as "Waldo's Dad" in 'The Little Rascals' and as "VIP Patron" in '54' has publicly denounced the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) which is under discussion in Congress today.

Section 702 allows the government to target foreigners overseas for data collection. Abouts collection was halted earlier this year by agreement of the intelligence community and the secret court that oversees FISA law, after they said it was proving hard to narrowly tailor. The Senate still must vote. Sen.

"'House votes on controversial FISA ACT today, '" Trump wrote, citing a Fox News headline.

"This is why I am saying it to you and wishing you well and good health". "It could be a sensitive subject", the prince joked. The suspected candidates include stylist Jessica Mulroney, actress Priyanka Chopra, and tennis superstar Serena Williams.

Trump's White House has been aggressively lobbying for months for a clean, permanent renewal of the 702 authority, which the intelligence community maintains is critical to identifying and disrupting terror plots.

The president "knows" that's not what today's vote was and he clarified his position.

While live-tweeting Fox & Friends on Thursday morning, President Trump expressed alarm that the House of Representatives may approve a bill reauthorizing the the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) - legislation that was used to surveil Trump campaign officials as part of the FBI's investigation into possible collusion with Russian Federation. "We need it! Get smart!" he said in a post.

The House passed the bill to reauthorize FISA with an important tweak. Critics of the program argue that it allows the warrantless collection of U.S. citizens' private information.

In March 2017, the president infamously tweeted that Obama, who he called a "bad (or sick)" individual, had his wires tapped at Trump Tower.

"No president should have this power", Neema Singh Guliani, a policy counsel with the A.C.L.U., said in a statement.

USA issues travel warning to 5 Mexican states
Afghanistan was placed in Level 4, "Do not travel" category for reasons that included terrorism, civil unrest and armed conflict. Countries have been issuing travel advisories for its citizens time and again, considering the present global scenario.

The tweets sent White House aides scrambling to explain the apparent about-face.

"I absolutely oppose permanent reauthorization", Paul said in December.

Civil libertarians fear investigators will just put off opening an official investigation so they can look at the data.

"I do think we need more time to work on this bill and I think that was only underscored this morning by the contradictory statements coming out of the administration", he said, calling for "more time to discuss this with our members".

The possibilities are endless, but so far you all seem to be focusing more on the crazy/loony stuff that makes it likely we won't live to see 2019.

Already, a bipartisan group of lawmakers, including 100 House Democrats and 100 House Republicans, have joined Paul's fight to amend the section, the authority of which was extended when the short-term spending bill passed in December. And Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the top Intelligence Committee Democrat (who supports the bill), recommended it be temporarily pulled in response to Trump's "irresponsible" comments.

Companies such as MoneyGram typically use pre-funded accounts to fulfill customers' transfers, which can tie up capital. In November 2017, American Express Co ( AXP.N ) also launched an instant blockchain-based payment system using Ripple .

Wyden told reporters "there is a lot of nonsense being circulated by opponents of the House efforts" to pass a warrant requirement, including that FISA reformers want new rights for suspected terrorists or that they do not want to prosecute criminals.
