That means the DirecTV Now packages that currently cost $35, $50, $60, and $70 a month will go up to $40, $55, $65, and $75. The news comes, somewhat ironically, on the heels of AT&T confirming its DirecTV NOW service would be increasing its subscription fee, a move it said was to better match what rivals were charging.

AT&T justified the price hike through the introduction of its cloud DVR service and the addition of more than 200 local channels nationwide. AT&T has announced a price increase for DirecTV Now, while Sony has subsequently increased prices for its PlayStation Vue service. Sony today announced plans to raise the price of all multi-channel PS Vue plans by $5, starting July 24. This includes the Access, Core, Elite and Ultra plans.

Hot, humid weather to continue through the week
The heat is hanging in there but take heart - it was a mere 18 C at dawn Tuesday and daytime highs will stay in the 20s by Friday. Meanwhile, the the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has prolonged their extended heat warning.

The PS Vue increases will go into effect for new customers on July 24th, with existing customers seeing the higher pricing on their billing cycle after July 31st.

While the price increase was explained by Sony as necessary to "keep pace with rising business costs" and to enable the company to continue providing more of Vue's services, the increase itself will not impact the current add-ons or standalone channels available through the service, or its current selection of networks and programming.

Anil Agarwal’s family trust agrees to buy rest of Vedanta
The committee added it would be recommending the cash offer because of the certainty it provided and the "attractive" valuation. The proposed offer does not affect Indian unit Vedanta Ltd, in which Vedanta Resources is the largest shareholder.

AT&T confirmed the price increase to Ars Technica and said it began informing customers of the increase this past weekend.
