Papa John's worldwide founder John Schnatter told the pizza company's other board members on Saturday that he regretted stepping down as the company's chairman last week, saying he gave into pressure without a fair investigation the facts surrounding his admitted use of racial language on a private conference call in May.

The Associated Press reports the company has started to remove his image from their marketing after he admitted to using the n-word during a media training conference call.

In a press release on Sunday, Papa John's said that the company will be terminating a sublease agreement with Schnatter, which allowed him to use office space in headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

Schnatter stepped down as chairman of the restaurant chain last week after offering a public apology for his use of the slur.

Amazon Prime Day Problems: Site Crashes As Shoppers Search For Deals
Amazon is hoping its deals, available only to Prime members, are a hit with customers as it's raising the price of the program. The estimate is based on BestBlackFriday.com's tracking of Amazon Prime Day deals since the shopping holiday started in 2015.

Since the controversy erupted, the company's former CEO claimed he was somehow pressured into using racist language, and conservatives flocked to defend Schnatter by buying mediocre pizza and using the hashtag #PapaJohnDidNothingWrong. Though Schnatter resigned as chairman this month and no longer holds a formal management role, he remains on the board and still owns about 30 percent of the company's shares.

"They made it pretty clear, the words were, "If I don" t get my f-ing money, I'm going to bury the founder, ' said one of the executives", Schnatter said in the WLKY interview. The marketing firm did not respond to requests for comment.

"I then said something on the order of, Colonel Sanders used the word 'N, ' (I actually used the word), that I would never use that word, and Papa John's doesn't use that word", he wrote, according to The Journal.

Schnatter also offered an apology telling WLKY that he was repeating something someone else said and was "provoked".

The company has yet to comment to Schnatter's accusation, but continues to distance itself from its founder.

The pizza franchise announced in a statement that Schnatter will "cease all media appearances, and not make any further statements to the media regarding the company, its business or employees".

In the call, meanwhile, also spoke of growing up in IN, and reportedly said that "people used to drag African-Americans from trucks until they died".
