
Bobby Madley has quit his role as a Premier League referee.
Mr Madley, 32, was one of the best performing referees in the league last season and it was hoped would one day become one of the Europe's top officials. It is understood that it could be linked to a video on social media although that could not be confirmed.
"Bobby Madley is no longer employed by PGMOL", the Professional Game Match Officials Limited said in a statement. His departure was not revealed to his peers in the referees' organisation, Professional Game Match Officials (PGMOL), until the news broke this afternoon.
