Tesla's Elon Musk says stress, overwork taking heavy toll

Tesla Model X 100d 1 Fired Tesla Employee Accuses Company Of Spying On Staff In Nevada Factory

In an interview with the New York Times, the Silicon Valley luminary called this year "the most hard and painful" of his entire career.

Tesla posted a $520 million loss last quarter, and the company is pushing to ramp up its Model 3 production to 10,000 cars per week by the end of the year. Is there someone who can do the job better? Is there someone who can do the job better? They can have the reins right now'.

The interview puts board members in a hard position because Musk, who entered Tesla as a major investor and built the company into a force that has changed the perception of electric cars, is the company's public identity.

In a statement the firm's board paid tribute to Musk's "commitment and dedication to Tesla" and praised him for "having hundreds of thousands of cars on the road that customers love" and "employing tens of thousands of people around the world".

Tesla shares fell 3.6 percent to $323 in early trading.

Hansen claims he reported the results to three supervisors, but says that the public nor Tesla's board of directors were notified of the findings. But Gordon said it has to act now or be open to shareholder lawsuits.

Ariana Grande breaks down after singing Aretha Franklin song on 'Tonight Show'
However, the " God is a Woman " singer later changed her mind after Questlove convinced her to sing with The Roots. Grande responded, "Franklin?" And Franklin informed her, "There's only one Aretha".

The interview and other actions, Gordon said, are signs that Musk no longer can handle the CEO job.

Additionally Musk denied he was "on weed" or "stoned" when he sent the tweet claiming to be taking Tesla private for a $420 share, although he acknowledged the value could be taken as a reference to marijuana.

While Musk has described himself as "half Democrat, half Republican" in the past, critics said it was hypocritical of a green energy CEO to donate almost $40,000 to the GOP. Instead, he or she would form a team to work overnight and solve problems.

One funding possibility being considered for the potential privatisation is for Musk's rocket company, SpaceX, to help bankroll the deal and take a stake in Tesla, the New York Times said, citing people familiar with the matter. But he told the newspaper that he wrote the tweet inside a Tesla Model S while he was driving to the airport, and that no one else reviewed it. He goes on to allege that the Tesla employees who were the subject of the DEA trafficking tip "were not terminated upon receipt of the DEA tip or anytime during the entire time that Mr. Hansen was employed by Tesla, to his knowledge".

Musk, 47, has a reputation for being an eccentric visionary. They've fallen back but remain elevated.

However, the following day investigators in the San Francisco office of the Securities and Exchange Commission asked Tesla for explanations.

40 children killed in Saudi strike on Yemeni bus — Red Cross
Secretary of Defense James Mattis has said a three-star United States general would be involved in an examination of the strike. In October 2016, a coalition air strike killed 140 people at a funeral in the rebel-held capital Sanaa.

The company did not comment on that report, but it did say it was forming a special committee to evaluate proposals to take the company private.

Nearly a week later, the CEO said the basis for that statement were conversations with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which first expressed interest in helping take the company private in early 2017.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tesla said it took the allegations that Hansen brought to the electric vehicle maker seriously and investigated.

Some of Musk's stress comes from critical stock short-sellers who are betting against the company's success.

That issue has reportedly prompted internal efforts to find a second-in-command for Musk, though the chief executive says he is unaware of any such plan.
