An additional airstrike in Al Durayhimi on Thursday killed four children, he said.

This marks the second major incident of the Saudi-led coalition killing large numbers of children in Yemen in recent weeks, both of the attacks involving attacking a bus.

The coalition has come under increased pressure since an air strike killed more than 40 children this month.

Mourners attend a funeral of people killed, mainly children, killed in an August 9 air strike by the Saudi-led coalition on a bus in northern Yemen, in Saada, Yemen.

"The parties to the conflict must respect their obligations under global humanitarian law and those with influence over them must ensure that everything possible is done to protect civilians", he said.

The rebel-run Saba news agency said the air strike on Thursday hit a bus and a house but the United Arab Emirates, a key partner in the coalition, blamed the Huthi rebels for the attack.

Al-Durayhimi lies some 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Hodeida, and has seen two weeks of fighting between the rebels and pro-government forces backed by the UAE.

Saudi Arabia on July 26 halted exports through Bab Al Mandeb as a result of the attack before resuming the shipments 10 days later.

"I - once again - call for the warring parties, those who have influence over them, the UN Security Council and the global community to take action and end this conflict once and for all", she further said, adding that the lives of thousands of "vulnerable children" all over the war-torn country "must be a priority for all".

The European Union urged Yemen's warring sides to "prioritise the protection of civilians in all instances" following the attacks in Al-Durayhimi and stressed the need to end the war, according a statement from the EU foreign affairs spokesperson.

The US' support for the coalition, however, especially after the airstrike that killed dozens of children two weeks ago, has drawn condemnation from US politicians.

Three of the five permanent council members - Britain, France and the United States - are supporting the coalition in its military campaign, while non-permanent member Kuwait is part of the coalition.

The conflict in Yemen, which began in 2015 after the Houthis overthrew the government of President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi from the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, has been described as one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world, with at least 8 million people on the brink of starvation due to famine, and one million children infected with cholera.

It is not yet clear who carried out the attack, with the Houthi rebels and Saudi-led coalition blaming each other.
