Others were perplexed, wondering why the Browns would cut Gordon now after sticking with him for so many years.

Josh Gordon's rocky six-year experiment with the Cleveland Browns will end, as the team announced its plan to release or trade their star wide receiver.

Additionally, Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reports that Gordon showed up late to the facility on Saturday and was described as "not himself", which the Browns believed was a sign of a potential relapse. It was reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter that Gordon suffered the injury during a promotional shoot, as opposed to practice.

Gordon, drafted by the Browns in the second round of the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft, caught 180 passes for 3,106 yards and 16 touchdowns in 41 career games with the team.

Deadly Florence trudges inland in Carolinas with 'epic' rain, flooding
As much as 30 to 40 inches (76-102 cm) of rain could fall on coastal areas in North and SC , the National Hurricane Center said . North Carolina alone is forecast to get 9.6 trillion gallons, enough to cover the Tar Heel state to a depth of about 10 inches.

Even with Gordon's multiple suspensions and missed time rendering him a third-year veteran, he has accrued enough National Football League service to be a free agent then. "We wish Josh well".

Browns general manager John Dorsey said in a statement that the team has informed Gordon's representatives that he will be released Monday.

Gordon was surprisingly declared out for Sunday's game earlier on Saturday, and it was also reported he would not travel with the team to New Orleans.

Gordon has been suspended multiple times for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Gordon had just rejoined the team on August 18.

Gordon had 18 receptions for 335 yards and one touchdown last season, in five games.

If the Browns release Gordon on Monday as stated, he'd become a free agent and wouldn't require to clear waivers.
