Kenyan Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge set a new marathon world record Sunday, winning the Berlin race in 2 hours, 1 minute and 39 seconds. Aga came second in 2:18:34 while Dibaba was third crossing the line in 2:18:55. Kipchoge ended up running 2:00:25 but the time is not world record eligible due to the pacing strategy alterations.

The world record is no stranger to Berlin as it has been set in this race in the last six times that it had been lowered before Sunday. "That's what I believed (breaking World Record) and I am happy for it".

"It wasn't a plan (running without pacemakers) because I thought I would go with them to 30km but it was unfortunate".

Cristiano Ronaldo scores as Juventus defeat Sassuolo 2-1
Cristiano Ronaldo has finally broken his duck and scored his first Juventus goal following his summer move from Real Madrid . Juventus saw out the result but were down to 10 men after substitute Douglas Costa saw red in the dying moments.

"I had great belief that I could achieve this feat and running a sub 2 hours two minutes was simply awesome and I believe I can still go below that with such good conditions", said Kipchoge, adding that he could have posted better times if he went with the pacesetters up to 30km mark. "I will come back next year", he said.

With his 1:18 demolition of the previous record on Sunday- almost three seconds faster per mile than Kimetto's mark- Kipchoge has now reached a summit that seems befitting of a man who has rarely been challenged in the event.

Delta II set for final launch after almost 30 years
Importantly, the laser will measure the slope and height of the ice, not just the area it covers. The scheduled time was 5:46 a.m. but it had a 40-minute launch window.

An ecstatic Kipchoge cut the tape with glee and excitement written all over his face, thumping his chest with both arms and letting out a scream that told just half the story of how much the record meant for him.

While he certainly benefitted greatly then from a highly controlled environment that featured constant pacing and absolutely ideal conditions- elements that made the run unofficial for record purposes- the time still showed that Kipchoge was a man among boys in the marathon. With already half a marathon behind him, the Kenyan nevertheless managed to run an incredibly quick time.

The previous track record was set by Mizuki Noguchi of Japan 13 years ago. "His races will never be slow and tactical".

Tracking Hurricane Florence as it bears down on U.S. East Coast
The American government is ready to deal with the aftermath of the hurricane but people should get out of the way, Trump said. Emergency declarations were in force in Georgia, South and North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

With two kilometres to go, it was now evident, Kimetto's record was going to fall. By 5k, Kipchoge was already nine seconds ahead of the field when he split 14:24 (2:01:31 pace), and by halfway (61:06) his margin was a huge 1:01 over Wilson Kipsang.
