UK PM May cautions: Support my Brexit deal or face no deal

London mayor Sadiq Khan pitches for second referendum on Brexit London mayor Sadiq Khan calls for second referendum on Brexit

But he insisted his U-turn was not backing a re-run but giving the public "a say for the first time on the outcome".

In today's Observer London Mayor Sadiq Khan warned of the job losses of a badly negotiated Brexit and demanded a new vote for the British people before the United Kingdom cuts ties with the EU.

Khan also criticised his predecessor as London mayor, Boris Johnson, for prioritising political ambitions over the interests of the country.

Khan's support for a second referendum, which supporters call a "people's vote", will put more pressure on Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to change his opposition to the idea.

The Labour Mayor had campaigned for Britain to stay in the European Union during the European Union referendum campaign and has always advocated the economic case for not leaving the EU.

However, he said a early general election that would give Corbyn a chance to be elected PM would be preferable to a Brexit referendum.

Florence likely to expose gaps in flood insurance
Radar is estimating that some areas between Wilmington and New Bern, North Carolina, have received over 30 inches of rain. The EPA is reportedly keeping an eye on 41 toxic waste sites for signs of hazardous substance spills during the flooding.

But Labour MP and leader of Labour Leave said that the Mayor's call is an "attack on democracy".

Reuters reported on September 12 that European Union officials were working on a sensitive Irish protocol to the draft Brexit treaty with Britain, as part of what Barnier has called efforts to "de-dramatise" the issue and get a deal.

"George Osborne doesn't concern me in the slightest", he said.

But Labour frontbencher Barry Gardiner yesterday told Sky's Sophy Ridge a fresh referendum would give Theresa May a "lifeline".

"If this government can not do what it is supposed to and govern, then we need actually to change the government", he told Sky News.

"It's ensuring that we get that good deal from the European Union which is good for people in the United Kingdom, wherever they live in the United Kingdom, that's what's important for us".

A police cordon has been thrown around the Salisbury restaurant and nearby roads. The woman, 44-year-old Dawn Sturgess, died.

But he faced criticism from Environment Secretary Michael Gove who said that it was "interesting and troubling that he [Khan] wants to frustrate the vote we had in 2016".

Theresa May said on Sunday she was focused on securing a deal based on her Chequers plan, but admitted to being "a little bit irritated" by constant speculation about her position.

"People didn't vote to leave the European Union to make themselves poorer, to watch their businesses suffer, to have NHS wards understaffed, to see the police preparing for civil unrest or for our national security to be put at risk if our cooperation with the European Union in the fight against terrorism is weakened", he said.

"It's ensuring that we get that good deal from the European Union which is good for people in the United Kingdom, wherever they live in the United Kingdom, that's what's important for us".

"You don't solve the issue of no hard border by having a hard border 20km inside Ireland", she says.
