Evan Blass has spoiled a bit of Samsung's surprise ahead of the event, showing off a single image of the rear of the Galaxy A9 complete with its four cameras, which are arranged vertically in-line.

But let's be honest, the Galaxy A9 is all about that quadruple camera.

The cameras are also aligned on the left side of the phone, similar to that of the new Apple iPhone iPhone XS - but definitely much bigger.

Powering the phone is a 3,800mAh which Samsung says should provide all-day power and the device comes with 128GB of internal storage which is expandable via a microSD card.

U.S. stocks plunge further, Dow drops 830 points
All 30 of the Dow's stocks were in the red and it fell below 26,000 total points for the first time in a month, CNN reported . The 10-year Treasury note yield traded around 3.23 percent, while the two-year yield reached its highest mark since 2008.

The hotly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy A9 will feature four cameras each with a different use - an 8 megapixel ultrawide camera, a 10 megapixel telephoto camera, a 24 megapixelmain camera and a 5 megapixel depth camera, aimed at the "Instagram generation".

South Korean girl group AOA demonstrate the camera capabilities of the new A9.

Samsung's quad-camera smartphone is capable of taking ultra-wide, 120-degree panoramic shots and also boasts 2x optical zoom.

Security-wise, the device comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back as well as face recognition.

Intercepts show Saudi plan to lure journalist Jamal Khashoggi
They said at the weekend they believed Mr Khashoggi was killed by a team sent to Istanbul and thought to consist of 15 Saudis. Suspicions are mounting that Saudi's crown prince ordered the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey.

The Galaxy A9 will be available in three color options - Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink - with sales set to kick off in select global markets from November. "In a world like this, everyone deserves access to the technology that delivers the most value in their eyes".

Samsung last week flagged record third-quarter profits likely driven by strong demand for its memory chips, but analysts have said its mobile business will continue to struggle.

Samsung is expected to officially announce the Galaxy A9 on October 11.
