The men, aged 19, 46, 55 and two 49-year-olds, were arrested on the suspicion of a public order offence, which covers intentional "harassment, alarm or distress" caused via the use of "threatening, abusive or insulting" words or signs.

Various male voices are heard making cruel quips about the tragedy, which killed 72 people on June 14 past year after the blaze quickly engulfed the west London block.

Theresa May tweeted: "To disrespect those who lost their lives at Grenfell Tower, as well as their families and loved ones, is utterly unacceptable".

The model, labeled "Grenfell Tower", had paper cutouts of burning people at the windows of the apartment block.Several of the cutouts appeared to have been colored brown, and a St. George's Cross flag is seen waving in the background.

Stuart Cundy, the Metropolitan Police commander leading an investigation into the fire, said it was "crude" and "vile" in a statement. "Help me!" and "Jump out the window!"

Labour MP Emma Dent Coad, in whose Kensington constituency Grenfell Tower resides, was a part of an online effort to identify those in the video.

Earlier, Scotland Yard said its Grenfell Tower investigation team was "taking this matter very seriously", adding: "Any offences that have been committed will be fully investigated".

The video ends as the model is completely consumed by the fire, with one bystander saying: "Perfect".

The "disgusting and insensitive" video quickly went viral as people watched in shock.

A video shared on social media shows a cardboard model of the tower being set alight by a laughing crowd.

Survivors of the blaze described burning of the cardboard model as a "sickening act of hate" and urged the police to investigate it as a potential hate crime.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan attacked the video on Twitter, saying: "I utterly condemn this sickening video".

Natasha Elcock, from Grenfell United, said: "It's a disgusting video".

"The police have been made aware and I hope that they take tough and swift action".
