The yellow vests movement has stirred major demonstrations and unacceptable violence, according to Macron.

The "yellow vest" fuel protesters have finally heard from the French president.

Environment minister Francois de Rugy will meet with some of the "yellow jackets" leaders later on Macron's request, the president's office said.

Paris police said 27 people are facing court Monday for Saturday's violence in the capital, while twenty others arrested over the weekend were released.

One of the most frequent complaints from the so-called "yellow vests" is Macron's perceived elitism, as well as his pro-business policies since taking office in May past year.

Belgium claim World Cup of Golf, Ireland come up short
Thomas Pieters and Thomas Detry closed out a three-stroke victory to clinch Belgium's first World Cup of Golf title on Sunday. They eventually finished second at 20-under on home soil, tied with the Mexican pair of Abraham Ancer and Roberto Diaz.

On Sunday, Emmanuel Macron said that unless the United Kingdom rapidly agreed to allow EU vessels the same access to British waters as they have now, the talks on a wider trade deal would fail, leaving the United Kingdom in the "backstop" customs union envisioned in the withdrawal agreement.

Macron also said France will move more slowly to limit the amount of energy it derives from nuclear energy, declaring that only the Fessenheim nuclear power plant will be closed before the end of the presidential mandate, which runs until 2022. Germany saw an increase in energy prices after it started a big push from nuclear to renewable energy.

Macron made it clear that the hike in fuel taxes on diesel and petrol that will come into force in January, will not be scrapped.

Apart from being a pillar of the government's plans for cutting carbon emissions as part of the 2015 Paris climate accord on capping global warming, the nuclear sector provides jobs for 220,000 people.

He added that he would ask French electricity giant EDF to study the feasibility of more next-generation EPR nuclear reactors, but will wait until 2021 before deciding whether to proceed with construction.

The tourists were dismissed for only 90 runs in the first innings to give Pakistan a massive lead of 328 on the third day. New Zealand won the first Test by four runs when Pakistan capitulated for 171 runs while chasing a 176-run target.

Protesters clad in fluorescent jackets, dubbed "yellow vests", have blocked highways across France since November 17, setting up burning barricades and deploying convoys of slow-moving trucks, often denying access to shopping centers and some factories.

EDF has been building the first EPR reactor at Flamanville along the Atlantic coast of northwest France - originally set to go online in 2012 - but the project has been plagued by technical problems and budget overruns.

Greenpeace said in a statement that Tuesday's measures "don't help rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions" and "don't accelerate the transition toward renewable energy".

After violent demonstrations on the Champs Elysees in Paris on Saturday, calls have emerged for a fresh day of protests for Dec.1.
