So gravitational lensing acts as a kind of magnifying glass for dim, far away galaxies and allows researchers to observe them easily. The team of engineers and scientists behind the Hubble Space Telescope will continue to study the data and images gathered by the spacecraft over the next ten years, and they hope to come up with great discoveries. It showed a distant galaxy cluster seemingly forming a face.

Outer space can be an intimidating and downright frightening thing to contemplate, which is why it helps to encounter a friendly face once in a while.

Surrounded by a patch of space filled with galaxies of all shapes, colors and sizes, the image reveals two yellow-hued blobs hang atop a sweeping arc of light. The arc of light is reportedly a galaxy whose shape has been distorted and stretched as a result of passing a massive gravity source.

UK's PM May odds of Irish border deal "50-50"
Work is continuing on this, he said, adding: "Don't be under any illusions that there remains a significant amount of work to do". He also shot down a suggestion by Brexit secretary Dominic Raab that any backstop should have a three-month time limit.

Hubble has taken a few photos showcasing banana-shaped arcs of light from across the universe.

But the "smile" is actually evidence of a phenomenon known as "gravitational lensing" - wherelight is "bent" by the gravity of massive objects in the foreground on its way towards us. Because of its position, the space telescope can see and capture the effect, which cannot be detected by ground-based observatories.

Astronomers using Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) have captured a stunning view of a patch of space that is filled with galaxies.
