Spinners put Bangladesh in command against Windies

Windies become the first side Bangladesh has ever asked to follow-on

West Indies equalled an unwanted record dating back 139 years as their top five batsmen were all bowled on day two of the second Test against Bangladesh.

Apart from a clinical bowling effort, Bangladesh proved to be equally good with the bat, as they mustered 508 in the first innings of the match.

Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan, Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan accounted for all 40 wickets, a record for a Test series in Bangladesh. Trailing by a massive 397, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan enforced the follow-on on hapless Windies. He had earlier taken a career-best 7-58 in the first innings to force the West Indies to follow-on.

Right-arm pacer Sherman Lewis bowled Mushfiqur Rahim for 14 to give the West Indies further success but Shakib and Mahmudullah, 31 overnight, held firm until the close.

Hasan got good support from left-arm spinner Taijul Islam (3/40), who picked the key wickets of Sunil Ambris and Roston Chase in a span of two overs.

Shimron Hetmyer and Shane Dowrich steadied the rapidly sinking ship, guiding the tourists to 75-5 at stumps, after Mahmudullah's superb 138 had put the Tigers firmly in control. Come the third day, off-spinner Hasan, first wrapped up opposition's first innings at 111, claiming career-best figures of 7/58, and then continued the good form in second innings bagging 5/59.

Amid Hetmyer's free-flowing batting, Bangladesh spinners kept striking at regular intervals with Mehidy again at the fore.

Mehidy then completed his second five-wicket haul in the match and seventh in his 18 Tests, dismissing Joeml Warrican.

Hetmyer did manage to smash nine sixes and one four in a show of clean hitting in his career best 92-ball 93 before one mishit against the bowling of Mehidy cost him his wicket.

Just a few hours later, Ocasio-Cortez responded to the former governor to clarify her statement in relation to her proposed plan. "We've dug deep and we've done what we thought was impossible". "We did it when no one else thought we could".

The last-wicket pair of Kemar Roach (37 not out) and Shermon Lewis (20) delayed the inevitable and forced an extended tea session, sharing a 42-run stand, before Taijul dismissed Lewis, who reviewed the leg-before decision in vain. He returns to the squad, which meets Bangladesh in the three-match series starting Sunday, in Mirpur.
