De Blasio touts $100M plan to provide healthcare for all NYC residents

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio on Tuesday announced a plan to provide health care for all New Yorkers, including those who can not qualify for health insurance such as undocumented immigrants.

De Blasio appeared on MSNBC on Tuesday morning to unveil his new plan to provide affordable medical care for all New Yorkers, regardless of their income or immigration status.

But it's unclear how the program will be funded, and Republicans swiftly objected to using taxpayer dollars to pay for health care for those in the country illegally.

Jon Jones To Defend Title Vs. Anthony Smith At UFC 235
Now that Jones is back and the light heavyweight champion once again, it can potentially set up a trilogy bout for the two. Instead, the UFC chose to move the event to The Forum in Inglewood, as Jones already had a license to fight in California.

The plan, which isn't precisely a plan - details are scant on how the system will actually work - will cover everything from mental health services, to well visits, to maternity care for New Yorkers who choose to go without insurance, or who can't afford even the basic, public insurance option that New York City already offers, and aren't signed up for "Obamacare" options on the state exchange.

Under de Blasio's program, 600,000 estimated uninsured residents will soon be insured.

"Health care is a right, not a privilege reserved for those who can afford it", de Blasio said in a statement.

7 potential replacements for Vic Fangio as Bears defensive coordinator
The Denver Broncos have an interview with Fangio scheduled for Monday and, if they wanted to, they could hire him on the spot. He spoke with the Broncos this morning, and Denver pushed its return flight from noon Colorado time to 4:30 p.m.

'We have now, in New York City, a public health insurance option we're ready to make much bigger that can reach the hundreds of thousands that are right now not in any kind of health insurance'.

"Health care isn't just a right in theory, it must be a right in practice".

When asked why New Yorkers should pay for the health care of undocumented immigrants or young invincibles, De Blasio said they already pay plenty when the community isn't healthy.

"Our citizens have hard enough time covering their own healthcare costs", Nicole Malliotakis, a member of the New York State Assembly who represents Brooklyn and Staten Island, tweeted. First we're getting you your health care. "In this city we are going to make that a reality", De Blasio repeated at a press conference on the expansion Tuesday morning. Yes it should. Let me just make that clear at the outset. "Now, @nycmayor also wants them to pay for healthcare of 300,000 citizens of other countries". We're going the opposite direction. The emergency room is the worst way to get health care, it's the most expensive way to get health care, ' he said. He added that the program will be up and running this year and will be built out over the next few years.
