Donald Trump Jr. had a lot to say on Twitter Friday night after Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office released a statement disputing a BuzzFeed News report that claimed the president directed Michael Cohen to lie about the timing of discussions over a proposed Trump Tower project in Moscow. Following the Mueller statement, BuzzFeed's editor in chief Ben Smith said on Twitter that "we stand by our reporting and the sources who informed it, and we urge the Special Counsel to make clear what he's disputing".

Smith spoke in similar terms during an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes.

Special counsel Robert Mueller III's office on Friday denied an explosive report by BuzzFeed News that his investigators had gathered evidence showing President Trump directed his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress about a prospective business deal in Moscow.

U.S. President Donald Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, created a stir when he was photographed outside his New York City apartment with his arm in a sling and a hospital ID bracelet on his wrist. But this BuzzFeed report connected the dots and said that they had evidence and sources and that it - that Mueller's office had a whole bunch of documents and evidence that backed up this claim and not just the testimony of Michael Cohen, who is pretty unreliable as a narrator, having pled guilty to lying.

The screenshot below shows BuzzFeed leading with Loop's report at 9:38 p.m. EST.

With this latest story, "obviously these facts are true or they're false, and we will all get to the bottom of this", he said. "I think it was very appropriate that they did so".

Australia vs India 1st ODI
While India can think of the World Cup from a position of strength, Australia are desperate for short-term success as well. Adelaide will host the second ODI on Tuesday, and the final game of the series will be played in Melbourne on Friday.

Speaking to reporters outside the West Wing, Sanders pointed to an earlier statement from Rudy Giuliani, Trump's personal attorney, calling the allegation "categorically false".

He is scheduled to testify to the newly Democratic-controlled House Oversight Committee on February 7 on his work for Trump.

Cohen pleaded guilty in November to lying to Congress to cover up that he was negotiating the Trump Tower project in Moscow on Trump's behalf during the heat of his presidential campaign.

House Intelligence Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff - who has promised to revive his panel's investigation into Russian Federation and Trump despite the then-Republican-led committee's decision a year ago to end its probe - said "we will do what's necessary to find out if it's true".

"And then Mr. Cohen, during his many interviews with the special counsel, confirmed that he was directed to lie to Congress".

The White House didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Facebook has said the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are also investigating. The Federal Trade Commission has been probing Facebook since past year .

If true, it could be "the most serious threat" to Trump's presidency, according to Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI), who reacted to the news on CNN Friday.

Directing or encouraging someone to lie under oath is a crime known as subornation of perjury, but the report also raises questions about obstruction of justice and conspiracy. His attorney declined to comment.

The trip never materialized, and Trump has repeatedly and emphatically denied dealings with Russian Federation during the campaign.

Democrats are calling for an investigation into the allegations Mr Trump ordered lawyer Michael Cohen, pictured arriving at his NY home on Thursday, to cover up information relating to a possible Moscow real estate deal.

The BuzzFeed story, posted on Thursday evening, was quickly picked up by cable news outlets and, by Friday morning, by congressional Democrats who vowed to investigate further.
