Lawmakers who want a softer Brexit are preparing to try to amend May's plans in a January 29 debate, and to use parliamentary rules to try to prevent a "no-deal" Brexit and take control of the exit process.

His push comes as the Government survived its motion of no confidence last night, and Theresa May having her Brexit deal voted down by down by 432 to 202 the night before- the biggest defeat ever inflicted on a British Prime Minister.

May has spent the last few days meeting government and opposition lawmakers, and is due to report to Parliament Monday on how she plans to alter the rejected deal.

Mr Boles is part of a group of Tory and Labour MPs who are calling for a Norway-style soft Brexit which would keep the United Kingdom tied to the EU customs union and single market.

U.S. stocks rallied on the report but pared some of the gains after the Treasury denied Mnuchin had made any such recommendation. Although the deadline on the 90-day truce is closing in, financial experts say progress is happening at the right speed.

Former Brexit secretary Dominic Raab, who quit the government in opposition to May's agreement with the European Union, said a no-deal Brexit would have "short-term risks", but they would be "manageable".

Britain could clear the way to reaching an agreement on the Brexit deal if it rows back on a commitment to leave the EU's customs union, according to a senior commissioner within the bloc.

"The prime minister has cynically run down the clock trying to maneuver into a choice between two unacceptable outcomes: her deal and no deal", Corbyn said.

The backstop is an insurance policy created to prevent the return of border checks on the frontier between EU-member Ireland and Northern Ireland. Brexit-backing former-Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson used a speech yeterday at a bulldozer factory to accuse May of lacking the "gumption" to get a good deal from the EU.

Britain's political chaos has spurred European Union nations to step up preparations for a disorderly British exit.

"As I set out in Liverpool, a public vote has to be an option for Labour, after all, deeply embedded in our values are internationalism, collaboration and cooperation with our European partners." he continued. At that point, Mrs May could find she's prime minister in name only. Many lawmakers think a "soft Brexit" that keeps Britain in the EU's single market or customs union is the only plan capable of winning a majority in Parliament. "And it is one we will keep", he said.

He said there now needed to be a series of "indicative" votes to establish which, if any, the various alternative proposals could command the support of a majority of MPs.

He said: "If there's an attempt to reverse the referendum, stop Brexit altogether I think that would cut across not only the democratic mandate, the biggest in history we had".
