According to Variety, Scott spoke to Kaepernick before agreeing to perform at the Super Bowl. One of the conditions for Scott to perform was for a $500,000 donation to be made to social justice nonprofit Dream Corps.

Last month, word leaked out that Travis Scott would join Maroon 5 at this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show.

But soon after that article was set live, Colin's friend, Ebro Darden, a 97 radio host, tweeted, 'Kap did not approve this bulls***!

Although "the two did not necessarily agree, they emerged from the conversation with mutual respect and understanding", a source close to Scott told Aswad.

In the initial report, the general idea was that Scott and Kaepernick had a phone conversation, and though they didn't see eye to eye, they did finish the call with mutual respect and understanding. The source additionally said that Scott would not confirm his performance until the point when the donation was secured.

Many believe artists like Scott and Maroon 5 should boycott the Super Bowl after Colin Kaepernick was allegedly blacklisted for his on-field protests against police brutality. "I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change".

Kaepernick's girlfriend, Nessa Diab, refuted the report in a tweet, calling on Scott to "stop lying".

"I think anyone that goes into the halftime show is in effect directly violating those that want to raise the question that the National Football League should come to terms with what they have done and continue to do to Colin Kaepernick and those that protest on criminal justice issues", Sharpton said recently.
